Thousands of people are expected to descend on downtown Glenwood this weekend for the Caddo River Festival, the city’s largest annual event.

The two-day celebration will take place over Labor Day weekend, Friday, Sept. 4, and Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Glenwood Regional Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the festival, says the event will feature more than 60 vendors, food trucks and activities for children. There will also be an antique car show, which drew a record 119 vehicles to Broadway last year.

On Saturday, a 5K run will begin at 8 a.m., with medals awarded to overall and age-division winners. Registration is $25 for those who signed up by Friday, Aug. 21. The 5K will be followed by a free Kids Fun Run.

This is the 16th year for the Caddo River Festival, which was previously known as Sawmill Days.

Two weeks before this year’s festival, a pageant was held that raised about $1,500 to help cover expenses for the event. Nine participants were crowned Caddo River Festival queens:

• Junior Miss Caddo River Festival: Preslee Fatherree, Glenwood
• Young Miss Caddo River Festival: Adalynn Lyman, Bauxite
• Teen Miss Caddo River Festival: Braylee Kropf, Kirby
• Miss Caddo River Festival: EmmaLee Vick, Glenwood
